For couples, my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, helps those seeking greater intimacy and connection with their spouse or partner. I offer one on one counseling and group support. Our groups can enhance the therapeutic experience through support and comraderie of others sharing similiar experiences.
For individuals suffering childhood trauma, recent trauma, or PTSD, the use of prolonged exposure therapy and/or EMDR are effective. Both modalities aim to reduce or eliminate PTSD or PTSD symptoms. As these symptoms lessen, our journey toward rediscovery continues. Helping clients gain their identity and recognize their worth and value are some of the goals of therapy in addition to reducing symptoms of anxiety, fear, and sleep disturbances. Together we fight demons and eventually refocus and rewrite the client's life story. The client learns to identify strengths and positive qualities they previously failed to see within themselves.
For attorneys battling the demands of private practice and are beginning to feel overwhelmed, help is available. Many attorneys, so used to being the one with the answers, fail to acknowledge that sometimes they need help too. Ignoring the mail, denying difficulties, and suffering the consequences is a frequent and not uncommon pattern. Seeking counseling before ones career, marriage, and social life implode can help get one back on track and help avoid devestating consequences. However, there are times when one's world appears to have collapsed. Suspension, or any other discipline, frequently bring shame and humiliation. Feelings of isolation and failure may be difficult to overcome. Because attorney distress is so common, support groups are also available in addition to individual counseling.
